Designers to know: Kai Kristiansen
Born in Denmark in 1929, Kai Kristiansen is known as a key figure in Scandinavian furniture design. In 1948 he began studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Danish architect and designer Kaare Klint, who is considered the “father of modern Danish design.” Klint approached furniture design from a functional perspective, studying the human body and allowing an object’s intended use to lead him to the most logical, clean-cut design.

Spotlight on the Mid Century Modern Iconic Cathrineholm
Cathrineholm was the name of a factory outside of Halden, Norway. They produced these iconic enamelware pieces from the mid-1950's through to the late 1960's.
The Lotus pattern is what I collect and is the most iconic and sought after by collectors like myself. The Lotus patten design was created by Arne Clausen in 1962. It is simple and easily recognized as Cathrineholm's best selling pattern.
